Found the old before picture on my computer earlier today. It’s just a face comparison but it reminded me of how far I’ve come.
That was my yearbook photo for my junior year of high school. All of my high school pictures look pretty much like that. This one was around my highest weight (~215).
I had no self confidence. People made fun of me and said I looked like a guy. One of the first times I was mistaken for a guy, (but certainly not the first time I was bullied or ridiculed for my weight), we were in a pep rally. I was hiding in a hoodie and my big baggy cargo pants. A girl fell on me. I was trying to see if she was ok and she was apologizing to me. One of my friends nearby said my name and asked if I was ok. The girl that fell on me froze. “Oh my God! You’re a girl?!” She started addressing everyone around us, drawing more and more attention, “You’re a girl?! That’s a girl?! Is that really a girl?!”  My friends were shocked and everyone else around us was laughing. I got up and moved to the far side of the bleachers and began to cry. One of my classmates found out about the incident and decided to name me “Matt”. He said that since I looked like a guy I needed a guy’s name. It was terrible. But I pretended that it didn’t bother me and just let people call me that. This was about 4 years ago I guess? I graduated 3 years ago.
Anyway, this is what I look like now. I’m a lot happier and healthier. I have so much more confidence! I’m still really curvy but I love myself! That’s better than anything I could have ever hoped for! I even bought my first real bathing suit in 8 years yesterday!
I’m not where I want to be yet, as far as fitness, but I’m getting there. Slowly but surely. There are so many things I want to be able to go do. And I will.

You truly are an amazing, strong, and Beautiful girl. Never let anyone bring you down, you’re such an inspiration!
